Random thought: Life is MAAAAAAAAADDDDDDDD short yo.

Recent events have led me to realize – life is way too fucking short. With that being said, I feel like everyone who reads this site or knows me or whatever already knows I keep it 1000 all the time. It’s what I’m known for. I’ll tell you the truth (especially about music) when no one else will. …that being said, I do not ever want to be known as a hater. Maybe some people aspire to that, and I may joke about it, but I don’t want that as my legacy. Please note that there is a difference between having an opinion and being honest as well as unapologetic about it, and being a hater. If you can’t see that difference, that is your problem, not mine. If I don’t like your music, or your favorite artist, or your mom, or whatever – it’s my opinion. Now, if you respect my opinion, and the fact that I am not feelin’ whatever it is you want me to bothers you, I’m sorry for that, cause I don’t want people to be unhappy, but it still doesn’t make me a hater. In a world full of people that will stare you dead in your face and lie to you for a plethora of ungodly reasons (their cowards mostly), why on earth would you have a problem with someone who merely tells the truth? If everyone did it, I wouldn’t seem like such a bitch – but it’s too hard for most people, because they can’t handle the result of the truth, other people’s upset. I’m saying all this to say, one persons opinion is just that, their opinion, and just because it doesn’t happen to be in line with yours, doesn’t mean they are a hater, it means you disagree. So stop acting like a fucking moron and getting all upset over stupid shit, life’s just too short. Oh, and, I love hip hop. …sometimes.

Random thought: Mindless Music

Music like the brilliance that is Waka Flocka Flame is appealing to many people. …why you ask? I wasn’t sure until recently when something dawned on me. People want mindless music. Given the state of our nation, the economy, employment opportunities (or lack there of), family issues, relationship issues, mental health issues, and so on, many people don’t want music they have to think about, analyze, or that they can ever understand (phonetically). Music like that of Gucci, Waka, Soulja Boy, etc – it’s all mindless. All of us, at times, listen to this type of music – in the club, in the car when there is nothing else on, etc, but we kind of tune it out, as it has no real meaning. For people like me (and hopefully you), momentary mindlessness is okay because, after a little while, we start wanting to think/experience/live something more than the mindless crap constantly being thrown at us. Unfortunately, for some, that’s not the case. Some people want to live in that perpetually drunk in the club state, because, well, their life is less than ideal, and that particular state is the best thing they have going. If you spend your Friday and/or Saturday nights getting white boy wasted, and that’s the most awesome thing going on in your life, it would make total sense that you love horrible mainstream hip hop, because it goes hand in hand with what you experience as being ‘good’. They say ignorance is bliss, and so it seems like musical ignorance might follow suit. Why listen to Mos Def rap about how fucked up things are and how we have to work to change them? That would take effort, thought, energy, etc. …especially when you can listen to Gucci talk about – whatever the fuck he talks about (I honestly could not tell you the meaning behind ONE of his songs). That beings said, I think ignorance is just that, ignorance, not bliss, but we all have moments of it – although I guess it’s the case that some of us don’t just experience moments of ignorance, it’s our whole lives, including out music. Just a thought.
